this is my myself poster

it was inspired by the idea I was discussing with my friend, that how would you describe a blind person how he looks, he would never what-so-ever, never in our wildest imagination could we ever imagine what a blind person thinks he looks like. So the basic idea was to create a picture where it gives the expression of “how can you see me when I cannot see myself”

we parked our car and started walking just exploring places with good backgrounds for really nice pictures, and we came across this abandoned building, and then we found the basement, then there was a stool, so I sat on it

I started with two very similar photos of myself and layered them on top of one another. Then I erased the major differences because I wanted the “dispersed” face look. At first I tried to do it with overlays but then when I played around a little and did some research I discovered the smudge tool and it really could bring life to exactly what I had in mind. At first I did random patterns with the smudge tool but later on I figured out how to use it and keep the shape of my head. I really liked where things ended I originally planned on working on the sides but it really satisfied the artist in me I really think the background of the photo makes more colors than I ever could. Colors that really define my mood.

Hashir is one of my adventure buddies and this picture was taken on a trip to the mountains. Hashir was in his “model” form and you have to respect this moment even if the pictures don’t turn out to be good you have to at least take a photo. So I did and when I got home and reviewed it. It went really well with the Jaden Smith “ICON” magazine format so I went along with it and it really satisfied me

Proof and Progress

This is the photo I took, I basically then step by step tried to replicate the cover in my mood board. I first gave it a black and white look, then it was all Photoshop. I got the exact same font online, I obviously added some names but I replicated how the texts and the barcode where.

Me and Hashir were wandering around while we came across this huge under construction plaza, on the top most floor there was amazing natural lighting and I just couldn’t let this chance slide, I tried dozens of angles and shots but nothing really satisfied me, when I went home and played around with the pictures in Lightroom this was the result and I could work with it

Final Project

The topic I selected was discrimination towards transgenders in the fashion industry. I selected this topic because I believe transgender individuals are the most neglected. When I started brainstorming ideas for my final project, I realized that I have never seen a transgender model on a magazine cover ever

Research And Planning

My curiosity led me to discover Valentina Sampaio, a Brazilian actress and model. Valentina is popular because she is the first openly transgender model to be featured on Victoria’s Secret. As I conducted more research on Valentina’s early life I found out that she had been fired by many firms only because of her sexuality. The firm stated that the clients would not be receptive of a transsexual model.

A 29 years old transgender woman from Karachi, Pakistan is known for her talent, witty behavior, knowledge, courage, bravery and charm and the world knows her as Kami Sid. She has proved at a very young age that anything is possible to achieve. Belonging to a country like Pakistan, Kami had numerous social and religious obstacles to conquer, but her unstoppable nature led her to destinations which a lot would only dream of.

Kami Sid inspired me the most, as a Pakistani myself I am aware of the stereotypes circulating transgenders. But that couldn’t stop Kami, Kami was able to rise above all of it. Kami receives threats on a regular and its amazing how nothing gets to her head. Nothing stops her from doing what she wants to do.
